Pete
Doherty Reunites With
Libertines
Bandmate
Pete
Doherty
and his estranged
Libertines bandmate Carl
Barat have performed
on-stage for the first
time in almost three
years.
Pete
Doherty and Barat played
13 songs at the second
of Doherty's An Evening
With Pete Doherty gigs
at the Hackney
Empire.
The
pair infamously fell out
in 2004 after Barat
kicked Pete Doherty out
of The Libertines
because of his drug
addictions.
While
recording the last
Libertines album,
security guards had to
brought in to protect
Barat and Doherty, from
each other as much as
anyone else.
During
the second half of the
show Doherty teased the
audience by saying:
"You've been waiting for
this moment. Ladies and
gentlemen Mr Carlos
Barat. Only joking -
what do you expect for
25 quid?"
Then
Barat came on stage,
wearing a Dior Homme
suit and a
trilby.
The
pair played 13
Libertines classics and
whispered and hugged
each other in between
songs.
After
the gig, Pete Doherty
and Barat performed an
impromptu version of
'Can't Stand Me
Now'.
