Gervais Lands Hollywood

Ricky
Gervais
is to play a leading
role in a Hollywood
romantic comedy,
according to a
report.
Ricky
Gervais, best known for
the hit UK sitcoms The
Office and Extras, is
due to start filming
Ghost Town in October,
says the Hollywood
Reporter.
The
actor has had supporting
roles in films including
Night at the
Museum.
Jurassic
Park and Spider-Man
writer David Koepp is to
direct the film, about a
man able to see dead
people, which will also
star Greg
Kinnear.
Ricky
Gervais's breakthrough
series, The Office, won
Bafta and Golden Globe
awards and has been
remade in the US and
France.
His
follow-up, Extras, won
two prizes at the Rose
d'Or television festival
and has attracted stars
of the calibre of Robert
De Niro and Samuel L
Jackson in cameo
roles.
Ricky
Gervais has also written
and appeared in an
episode of The Simpsons,
and performed stand-up
tours and
record-breaking
podcasts.
Other
minor film roles have
been in For Your
Consideration and
Stardust, the
forthcoming movie from
Layer Cake director
Matthew
Vaughn.
