There
Is No Britney Sex Tape,
Say
Lawyers
There
is no "sex tape"
involving pop star
Britney
Spears
and estranged husband
Kevin Federline, his
lawyer has
said.
After
Britney Spears filed for
divorce from the
fledgling rapper this
month, reports surfaced
in the tabloid press
that Federline had in
his possession a
videotape of the couple
having sex and was
considering making it
public.
"There
is not a sex video of
Kevin and Britney in
existence," said
Federline's divorce
lawyer, Mark Vincent
Kaplan.
Representatives
for Britney Spears had
no immediate
comment.
"It
goes without saying that
the stories of Kevin
attempting to sell such
a video are patently
false and anyone who
reports that they have
information of such
attempts is either lying
or reporting the lie of
someone else," Kaplan
said in a
statement.
Earlier
this month, Los Angeles
judge dismissed a
lawsuit that Spears
filed against Us Weekly,
claiming that the
magazine defamed her
when it reported the
existence of a sex
tape.
Superior
Court Judge Lisa Hart
Cole ruled that Spears,
24, could not be defamed
because she had "put her
modern sexuality
squarely, and
profitably, before the
public eye."
After
two years of marriage,
Spears filed for divorce
on November 7, citing
irreconcilable
differences with
Federline and seeking
sole custody of their
children, 1-year-old
Sean Preston and James
Jayden, who was born in
September.
Federline,
28, responded the
following day with court
papers seeking spousal
support and custody of
the children.
Rumours
had swirled for months
that the marriage
between the pop princess
and aspiring rap artist
had turned rocky. The
duelling court papers
and accompanying remarks
by Kaplan that Federline
was trying to "protect
and safeguard the
children" suggested a
bitter split.
Britney
Spears shot to fame as a
teenage sex kitten in
1999 and has sold more
than 70 million albums
to become one of the
best-known celebrities
in the world.
Federline,
who was a dancer in her
music videos before
their secret 2004
wedding, has lived in
her shadow, often
referred to as Mr.
Britney Spears, or
K-Fed.
