Peter
Kay Voted World's
Funniest
Peter
Kay
has topped a list of the
100 funniest people
alive.
The
Phoenix Nights star was
number one in a survey
of 17,000 comedy
fans.
Ricky
Gervais
was second, closely
followed by Lee Evans
and Eddie Izzard. But
there were some
surprises in the list -
President George Bush
turned up in 17th
place.
Dizzy
Big Brother star Jade
Goody was 46th, with
Gordon
Ramsay
at 76 thanks to his
crushing put-downs of
hapless
chefs.
The
survey was carried out
by lads' magazine
Zoo.
The
top 10 also featured
Billy Connolly and
Little Britain stars
Matt Lucas and David
Walliams.
Zoo's
deputy editor Ben
Knowles said: "Peter
Kay's position at the
top of our comedy survey
is no surprise. His
humour is classically
British. The massive
success he's had over
the past few years is
built on his ability to
be rude without
offending
people."
There
are, however, some
surprise appearances in
the list.
"With
George Bush, the joke is
very much on him. He may
be the most powerful man
on the planet but his
appearance in the top 20
shows just how
ridiculous people think
he is." Ben Knowles
said.
