Gordon Ramsay
Restaurants Broke Food
Rules
Gordon
Ramsay's restaurants fell foul of some
food safety rules, according to local
council reports.
An
inspection of his Michelin three-star
restaurant revealed broken tiles and split
door seals.
The
Kensington and Chelsea Borough Council
inspection found that the restaurant was
breaking rules on electrical safety and
did not have an accident book.
A
freezer also needed a thorough clean,
according to the inspection of the
restaurant, called Gordon Ramsay, carried
out last March.
The
report - plus one by Westminster Council
based on a September 2005 inspection of
the
Gordon Ramsay at Claridge's
restaurant
- were obtained by The
Independent
newspaper under the Freedom of Information
Act.
Mr
Ramsay's restaurant at Claridge's hotel
contained a washing-up sink so close to
food preparation there was a risk of
contamination, the report said. Chefs were
seen wiping their hands on "dirty
cloths".
A
spokeswoman for Gordon Ramsay Holdings
said the points reported by the newspaper
were correct.
She said
the inspection of Gordon Ramsay at
Claridge's took place just two days after
the restaurant had re-opened following a
month-long refurbishment.
"They
are all very minor points and they were
all addressed and rectified straight
away," she said. "Overall the standards
were praised, these are just seven or
eight minor points and the advice was
implemented straight away.
She
added: "Health and safety is massively
important to Gordon Ramsay. He takes it
very seriously and has four full-time
members of staff working across all the
different restaurants to ensure that
standards are very high."
